Cooking for One
serves singles
egina
Sutton 65 isnt a chef, but she instructs men in
the basics of the culinary arts in her Cooking for One
class.
She came up with the idea after talking with her co-workers about
the number of men who live alone because theyre either single
or divorced. According to Sutton, most men want to learn how
to cook because theyre tired of eating out all the time.
By learning to cook for themselves, she said, the singles can save
money and eat healthier.
All Suttons classes are one-on-one and take place in her own
kitchen. Emphasizing dinner, Sutton shows men how to use kitchen
equipment, season with herbs and spices and transform simple ingredients
into nutritious mieals. Her kitchen philosophy is that cooking should
be fun rather than cumbersome, so her cuisine is always quick and
easy to prepare.
A full-time research associate, Sutton works for GTE in Mobility
and Integrated Communications.
