| RU’s A.D. in the “W”
s athletic director and a former coach, Joy Heritage Reighn ’69, ’75 loves
to see Rowan sports in the “win” column, but in October
it was her own name making college sports headlines. Earning the
prestigious Garden State Award, Reighn won
the praise of her peers in the Collegiate Athletic Administrators
of New Jersey organization.
Reighn commented, “This institution was wonderful to me as
a student and I bleed brown and gold. But this award is a ‘team’ award.
I accepted this on behalf of all of us.”
In Reighn’s 16 years at Rowan, Profs teams have risen to
national prominence, finishing in the top five on two occasions
and in the
top 25 every year nationally in the run for the prestigious Sears
Cup, which recognizes the most outstanding athletic programs in
Division III.
